70 Years as Ecuador's Most Premium Banana

Since 1956, Bonita has carried Ecuadorian bananas to the world's most demanding markets, box by box.

Our history

A story with a name of its own

Luis A. Noboa Naranjo, founder of Bonita.

Luis A. Noboa Naranjo knew bananas well, after working with Standard Fruit and learning what this land could yield.

In 1956 he decided to bet on something of his own and export under his own name. That's how Bonita was born, from the conviction that Ecuadorian bananas deserved to reach the world with an identity of their own. That decision is still alive in every box that leaves the country.

  1. 1946 The company is born

In 1946, the company that would give rise to the export group was born. It was the starting point of a journey that, over the years, would take Ecuadorian bananas to markets around the world. Everything that followed was built on that foundation.

  2. 1956 Bonita is born

In 1956, Luis A. Noboa Naranjo decided to export under his own name, and Bonita was born as a brand.

With its first export office, he began building the identity that every Bonita box carries today.

This is the year Bonita recognizes as its origin.

  3. 1957 First shipments to Europe

A year later, the first shipments reached Europe. Bonita crossed the Atlantic and began building the trade relationships that are now counted in decades. Ecuadorian bananas found their first demanding markets.

  4. 1997 The historic peak

In 1997, the export platform reached its historic peak, with 75 million boxes in a single year. It's the largest scale ever achieved in the operation's history, the result of capacity built over decades.

A record that marked a turning point in Bonita's history.

  5. 2008 Noboa Trading is born

In 2008, Noboa Trading was born, the company that exports the Bonita brand today. With it, the operation became more organized and modern to meet increasingly demanding markets. Decades of experience were put to work in a new stage.

  6. 2026 80 years of export experience

In 2026, the export journey that began in 1946 reaches 80 years. Eight decades that confirm a way of working built on closeness to the producer, control of the chain, and a commitment to quality.

    Bonita keeps building that path.
